Fair Enough

"Fair enough."
While staring into a bog of things I can't change,
Didn't notice, the night turned into day.
Found my way back to the path from which I'd fallen astray.
Leave the swamp behind, be on my way.
Breathe deep and realign.
I don't think it's any secret being human can get tough.
Too many bad bets got you dwelling on bad luck.
While sometimes life serves its side dishes off the cuff,
Sometimes ya gotta call your own bluff.
And say "Fair enough."
(Don't overthink it!)

With the Waves

Permanence is the illusion I seek when I don't want to lose my contentment.
A shelter of complacent tendencies diminishes sense of direction.
Attachment to things that are subject to change leads me to reject passing moments, so I'll move with the change,
Find my place in the wave,
To greet daunting grief with atonement
I'm going and flowing with the waves,
part of the current now,
in it's embrace
Denounce the sun when the sky starts to weep,
and claim control over acceptance
Tell myself this isn't love that I've seen,
Let my head rest in resentment.
Before I know it, the cloud passes by,
The sun reflects off of the due in my eye.
Rolls down the cheek and rejoins with the stream, 'til the ground that's surrounding around me is dry.
I'm going and flowing with the waves,
part of the current now,
in it's embrace.
I'm going and flowing with the waves.
out from the undertow,
drifting away.
